Silvia Varela is a photographer born in La Coruña Spain.
She attended the University Complutense of Madrid, and received a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a specialization in Photography.
In 2003 she obtained a grant to finish her photo studies at Futh Fotografie in Berlin, Germany.
She had a retrospective show at the independent Galerie Espacio Valverde in Madrid City Center in 2008.
In 2014 she was selected to take part in the Descubrimientos PhotoEspaña Madrid contest.
Silvia contributes regularly to main magazines and newspapers in Spain. So her work has been widely featured in publications and media such as Yo Dona, Icon, El País Semanal, Vanity Fair, Woman, Retina, Tentaciones, Amuse, Marie Claire, Ser Padres, Vanidad, Vogue Mexico, Neo 2, Cosmopolitan, Tiger, Harper´s Bazaar, Telva, Grazia or Buffalo Zine among others.
She has been comissioned by clients such as Zara, Bimba & Lola, Eastpack, Kling, Wild Pony, Medline, Editorial Planeta, Ebay, Schweppes, Vitra, Alicia Framis, Fundación Caja Madrid, Fundación Botí, Pelonio, Viernes, Good Good, Rosas, Setanta or Ferrán el Otro Studio.
Currently she is based in Madrid working as a freelance photographer and studying Art History at university.
